The album that came to be known as "Tormato" really should have been called "Yes Tor." The actual Yes Tor, a high point of land in the county of Devon in southwestern England, can be seen on the album's cover, behind the man in the suit with the dowsing rods, and the tomato splatter/5().
The title of the new album by Yes plays on the word tor–meaning a high, craggy hill–as well as on tornado and tomato. Tormato is neither a pinnacle of achievement nor a .
The Tormato album continued with that idea over the objections of Steve Howe. Originally, Tormato was to be called Tor. The Yes-Tor album cover was to be a picture of the band in front of a famous rock in Devon, England called the Yestor. Instead, the band had their picture taken in a park near the recording studio, nowhere near Devon.
